Abby B. Water bottles are probably the easiest products to design as a beginner in print on demand. All you need is a horizontal design to stretch all over the bottle. Of course, this can differ depending on the type of POD bottle and printing fulfillment you’re using!

1. Printify
The best selection for white label print on demand water bottles is on Printify. They source from multiple suppliers so you have better choices and can enjoy worldwide shipping!
There’s a variety of stainless steel and plastic water bottles that you can design on Printify and prices start from just $8.63. You can save even more on product prices (about 23%) by subscribing to Printify Premium for about $20 a month.

When starting a print on demand business as a total beginner, it’s wise to stick to a fulfillment that’s cheap in cost, offers multiple ecommerce integrations and easy to use. I can’t recommend Printify more just for these reasons.
Here’s a sample of a Printify water bottle I created using a seamless pattern design downloaded from Creative Fabrica. As you can see in the image below, the main image is placed in the center and I used Printify’s pattern tool to make it repeat all over the bottle.
You can make the image smaller to increase resolution which is not needed and achieve a smaller pattern design. Perfect citrus design for the summer!
2. Printful
Printful is another popular white label fulfillment company you should check out, aside from Printify. Compared to Printify, Printful carries a lot more apparel products, all over print and embroidery – and not much of home items.
Regardless, there’s still two types of water bottles you can design on the site – list down below. There are reviews on individual product pages for you to decide better if you’re not planning to order the product yourself.
I do think ordering sample products with your actual design can be beneficial especially if you’re a new shop on marketplaces like Etsy. You can take your own actual product photos/videos and learn about the product better!
Here’s a sample of a Printful water bottle (stainless steel) that I created using ready designs in their library. I added a quick design and a clipart – both entirely free and customizable. No files were uploaded on my part!

3. Gelato
There’s only a single type of stainless steel water bottle you can design on Gelato. It’s a standard water bottle that you can find on most websites in this list including on Printify and Printful.
So nothing too interesting!
However, there are other reasons for you to decide to sell with Gelato, against other fulfillment companies. Unlike others, they have a better selection of paper products like stationery and photo books so if that’s your main focus, selling water bottles can be supplementary.
You can also see that Gelato’s water bottle is fulfilled in 13 countries so even if you’re not in the USA or Europe, they’ve got you covered!

4. Gooten
You can find more options for water bottles on Gooten compared to Printful or Gelato. The only downside is they only approve sellers with a ready store to sell on and preferably ones with prior POD experience.
Don’t be worried if you’re not cut out for it! There are other fulfillment companies to consider here in my list.
Gooten’s product selection is quite extensive with a lot of categories similar to Printify’s – although not as many products are offered. Their water bottles are mostly sourced from branded companies with so you’ll know they’re great in quality (without even trying!).

5. Prodigi
Similar to Gelato, Prodigi’s water bottles are made of metal – specifically copper and stainless steel. If you want a bottle with a bigger printing surface, go for their copper water bottles.
It’s much easier to print on a surface that is flat hence why the usual stainless steel water bottles (on the right) can only be printed on a small area.
If you’re looking for a print on demand bottle UK-company, Prodigi is one that you should consider as their water bottles are printed and shipped from the UK. However, not all their products are made in the UK and some are made in the USA instead.
So be sure to read their descriptions carefully before placing your orders!
Although bottles are not paper products, it’s nice to note that Prodigi is one of the few sites that offers mini sample products for you to test out. The package consists of mostly paper products but it’s still good to order one just to see if you like the quality – it’s limited to one per customer account.

6. Society6
I would usually suggest artists or anyone looking to start print on demand as a side hustle to join POD marketplaces like Redbubble, Society6 and Threadless (there are more in this list). Marketplaces are easier to manage when you’re doing POD on the side and less confusing than managing an actual ecommerce store e.g. Etsy or Shopify.
Out of the three marketplaces above, Society6 is the only one to offer water bottles!
Although there’s only a single stainless steel bottle sold on the site, there are actually three sizing options and three lid types for customers to choose from – list below.
As an artist, you’ll just need to upload your designs on water bottles on Society6 and wait for sales. Your design can be printed from end to end and from top to bottom like the one in this image.

7. Zazzle
Want to sell on a marketplace like Society6 but want to offer personalization to customers? Zazzle is one of the few marketplaces that lets you do so.
There’s also a wider range of products on Zazzle compared to any other marketplace and almost all can be personalized. For stainless steel water bottles, you can even choose from nine base colors that suits your personality!
You can design insulated water bottles, plastic ones and even bottles for kids with Zazzle. Their plastic bottles are lightweight, made with 50% recycled material and free of BPA, BPS, and BPF. It’s also dishwasher-safe plus odor and stain-resistant.
Here’s a sample of a Zazzle water bottle I personalized to include my name. Your customers can do the same and even select different color designs within a single listing. Super convenient if you ask me!

8. Spreadshirt
Spreadshirt works just like the marketplaces I’ve shared above but the main difference is in the way artists are being compensated. You can read a more detailed write up on Spreadshirt I published here.
You can find two types of stainless steel water bottles to design on the site. The prices shown in the image below does not include any printing cost (a.k.a. plain bottle) so once you add your design, they will recalculate prices for you to pay.
Stainless steel water bottles may be aesthetic but they are generally not suitable to be used in a dishwasher, freezer, or microwave. It’s also not advisable to use it with carbonated beverages. So keep in mind!

9. CafePress
If you don’t mind having your designs printed on one side of the water bottle (like most), you should also consider joining CafePress as an artist. The major downside is that they only accept artists from a specific list of 26 countries (link down below).
Aside from that huge disadvantage, I believe that you should join as many platforms or marketplaces as possible when starting out just to see which one suits you best. You shouldn’t face any issue or restrictions about selling the same designs on multiple platforms as none of these sites have exclusive rights to your design.
Anyhow, you should read T&Cs first before joining!
Similar to Zazzle, CafePress allows customers to personalize water bottles (if enabled by the seller/artist) – however, it is quite basic. You can also choose between three types of water bottles!

10. Bags Of Love
Aside from Prodigi, you should also explore Bags Of Love if you’re selling primarily in the UK. Prices are stated in GBP so it’s slightly expensive but local shipping charges are on the reasonable side.
There isn’t many options for custom water bottles on the site, other than the usual stainless steel cylinder shaped bottles. However, you can design hot water bottle covers that can be sold alongside the main bottles – cross-selling equals extra sales!
Since Bags Of Love is a brand under Contrado, you’ll need to connect your Shopify store via the Contrado app (their parent company).

11. Contrado
If you’re not based in the UK and want to be selling similar products as BOL in the USA, check out Contrado. As the parent site of Bags Of Love, Contrado has almost all the same products as BOL but prices are displayed in USD.
Unlike most others in this list that offers the cylinder-shaped stainless steel water bottles, the ones on Contrado (and BOL) can be printed all over covering the entire surface (like in the image below). Similar to BOL, prices are slightly premium so if you’re looking for premium water bottles or intend to purchase for yourself, Contrado should be your go-to.
Contrado typically ships orders in 1-2 days after you check out and even offers express shipping for US addresses as fast as 1-2 days (post manufacturing).

12. Merchize
Looking for something on the cheaper side and not the usual stainless steel bottles? Merchize’s sports bottle may be an alternative – they’re made of BPA-free plastic material and prices include standard shipping to the USA.
Although Merchize is based in Vietnam, some of their products like the water bottle are printed in China and can only be shipped to the USA. Sourcing your products at a cheaper price would allow you to price competitively against competitors and enjoy a better profit margin.
I like that most products on Merchize are all over printed, including their bottles! However, you may need to consider the longer shipping times before proceeding with a fulfillment based in Asia.

13. Teelaunch
Like what you see on Merchize but want to work with a company that’s based in the USA? Teelaunch might be a good option for white label, apart from Printify and Printful.
Most of their products are printed in the USA but not all items can be shipped out of the country. So do check the descriptions before deciding!
Their water bottles come in two sizes (list below) and I like that you can choose the base colors. You can make your designs in two main colors e.g. one black and one white, to suit the different base colors. Black designs are best for bright colored backgrounds while white ones look better on a darker base.
If there’s any other unique items you can sell with Teelaunch, it would be their engraved wooden chopping boards, printed sports equipment and cut-out metal signs.

- Choose a niche for your designs
- Niching down is great to attract the right audience with your print on demand bottles
- Some examples would be water bottles designed with hobbies, patterns or even motivating short quotes to start the day
- Focus on your chosen niche for the next 100 designs!
- Do research on best selling and trendy designs
- Before making any designs, find out what’s working in the market
- Make your own designs or outsource
- You can make your own designs using Kittl or Canva
- If you want to buy designs, get them on Creative Fabrica or Envato Elements
- Some important things to know are design file sizes and printing layout (if any)
- Sign up for an account with any of the sites I’ve listed above
- You’ll have to create an account with one of the sites I’ve mentioned above to start selling
- Choose one supplier that resonates to you the most with the right products you’ve envisioned for your drinkware business
- Upload designs to products
- Uploading designs to supplier’s products is super easy and you should be able to do this once an account is created
- Position the design correctly when uploading as the actual product will look the same as what you see online
- Set a suitable profit margin for each product
- On most sites, you should be able to set a selling price once you’ve done uploading the design
- A suitable margin should be 40%-50% depending on the platform you’re selling on and any fees you’ll incur on each sale
- This excludes shipping charges to customers!
- Sync them to your ecommerce store
- You would need to integrate your ecommerce store e.g. Etsy or Shopify before you’re able to sell so do that first
- Sync the ready product to your store to start selling them publicly
- Sites like Society6, Zazzle and Spreadshirt have their own marketplace for you to sell your products – so you don’t need a separate store to use them
- Start selling and repeat!
- Repeat the process and you’ll get some sales with time!
- Increase your chances of success by uploading more quality designs and using professional mockup tools like Placeit
- Consider bringing in traffic to your store with ads (if you’re not selling on a marketplace)
Bottom Line
When designing print on demand water bottles, it’s always more practical to go with a simple design and include some typography. Unlike posters, art prints or calendars, you don’t need complicated intricate designs for bottles!
If you’re confused on which fulfillment to go with, I suggest that you first decide your ideal target audience and selling platform. Shall it be Etsy, Shopify, Wix, WooCommerce or eBay? Or do you want to make things easier by selling on a POD marketplace first?
