Their sport bras can be printed all over (AOP), meaning your design will cover every surface area possible – and not just in a single spot. It’s made partly from spandex to give a stretchy comfortable feel when working out in the morning or at noon.
You can save at least 23% more on product cost for every order by subscribing to the monthly Printify Premium plan. I like that you get to diversify your suppliers when selling with Printify as they don’t rely on a single printing partner.

There’s even more all over print on demand fitness apparel you can design on Printful. This includes sports jerseys, swim trunks, shorts and leggings.
AOP designs give an illusion of high quality printing and premium look. You can price it higher than products without all-over-printing. For the small price difference and the greater value perceived, customers are sure to make a purchase!
Printful also has a range of shorts including yoga shorts, biker shorts, athletic shorts and swim trunks (eco-friendly!). They’re the perfect items to sell when approaching spring and summer. If your customers are based in a tropical country, you can make money selling these all year.

3. Gelato
There aren’t many choices of print on demand activewear on Gelato. But if you’re looking to primarily sell high quality hoodies and t-shirts, Gelato can work for you. Depending on the type of product, Gelato fulfills orders from 3-7 locations and works with multiple printing partners just like Printify.
Gelato’s custom athletic wear are mostly unisex, making it super easy for you target all genders without a lot of headache – especially true when managing your ecommerce shop.
Sizes are limited to only 2XL for t-shirts and 3XL for hoodies, so I don’t recommend the site if you want to target plus sizes. Most POD blank products are sourced from China and sizes can vary – some can be a perfect fit while others are likely to be smaller than expected. Remember to test out!
Here’s a sample of Gelato’s sports t-shirt I bought for my partner who loves to jog and work out. The material is very comfortable and breathable which makes it perfect. I had it printed on both front and back.
To be precise, this is the Polycotton Unisex Crewneck T-shirt in white (second in picture above).
It can be a little tight so best you get one size bigger if you like more room. He’s about 165lbs (5’7″) and I got him a medium sized one (I can wear it too!).

Most of the sportswear on Contrado are all-over print, including their cool set of track suits – you can design the top and bottom to match! Its made of cooling and stretchy jersey fabric, which is also breathable in any weather.
Another interesting item is their neck tube scarf. It’s the perfect accessory for when going for a run in the busy city (dust can be irritating!) or during the colder seasons when extra layering is needed.
Although Contrado is slightly expensive than others, you will appreciate their quality printing and fast fulfillment – most items are ready in just 2 days.

It’s pretty obvious so I can’t hide, Bags Of Love is another brand under Contrado. Their selection of products are similar with a unique additions for some – check out my other POD guides to know.
Aside from designing the same products as I’ve listed above for Contrado, you can sell bandeaus, baseball caps and hot pants with Bags Of Love. These three items make the perfect workout outfit for an adventurous hot summer!
The major difference is prices are displayed in GBP (British Pounds), instead of USD on Contrado. So if you’re looking for a print on demand athletic wear in the UK, Bags Of Love is THE option to consider!

7. SPOD
If there’s one thing I like about SPOD, it’s their extensive choice of base colors for apparel products. Sport t-shirts come in 25 colors and hoodies come in 14. While most of their sportswear are only available up to 2XL, the biggest size for t-shirts and hoodies is 6XL and 5XL, respectively.
You definitely have the option to sell plus size sportswear with SPOD. Larger sizes are usually higher in cost (by a small difference) but it’s not a big worry – as you can easily increase your selling prices for these products as well. Customers should be understanding on this matter and won’t take it the wrong way.
SPOD also has a moisture-wicking performance t-shirt which is $7 more expensive than their normal t-shirts. It only comes in 6 colors but made of breathable and light-weight material. If I was a sports junkie, I would definitely get a few of these t-shirts for my daily evening jog, instead of the basic ones.

Sold on the idea of making moisture-wicking sportswear? There’s a good range of those on CustomCat, including t-shirts, long sleeve t-shirts, v-necks and even hooded jackets. The t-shirts are slightly cheaper than the ones on SPOD!
CustomCat offers larger sizes for most of their sportswear including hooded jackets – available from XS, up to 4XL. The product also comes in 5 athletic colors to fulfill different customer color preferences. I love that there’s a fine line between men’s and women’s products – it makes it easier to understand sizes.

9. Society6
There might not be a clear category for sportswear on Society6, but I love the platform a little too much to exclude it. I believe leggings of any form can be worn for any sports activity – as long as the material permits.
Society6’s leggings are made of breathable and stretchy material that is comfortable for lounging, performing yoga or even going for a morning run. As someone who loves wearing leggings myself, I find them so versatile and easy-going, I can do just about anything in them!
Aside from leggings, you can also design matching unisex tank tops with Society6 and hopefully, your customers will purchase both for their evening yoga sessions.

10. Merchize
The catalogue doesn’t do much justice for the value Merchize offers. Instead of the usual sports t-shirt, I would suggest you to design sports bras, swimsuits or even baseball jerseys with Merchize.
Unique products (which aren’t t-shirts) can be sold for a higher price as they’re considered to be rare in the market e.g. Etsy. You can even set up one Shopify store centered around swimsuits because Merchize has a few types to offer (picture below).

If there’s one thing that caught my eye within Spreadshirt’s catalog of custom sportswear, it’s the Under Armour Women’s Locker T-Shirt. At the moment, you can only design Spreadshirt’s sportswear and order them for yourself – I was unable to see if you could sell sportswear on their marketplace.
Need the shirt in large quantities? Spreadshirt offers bulk discounts for bulk purchases. Great option to consider if you’re ordering custom merchandise for family events or corporate gifts. Even if you’re just buying them for yourself, there is no minimum quantity to fulfill.
I like that you can get an estimation of the delivery time and cost just by keying in some basic details using their shipping calculator – e.g. destination country, quantity and preferred delivery option (standard or express).

A print on demand marketplace that you’ve probably not heard of is Kin Custom. I find that their catalog is slightly difficult to navigate as you are unable to filter to only see a specific product. Clicking on the activewear category means seeing a mixture of sports bras, windbreakers, leggings and shorts in a single view.
Nevertheless, they have clear and convincing product mockups which is important in building customer’s trust. Every product has real life pictures from a few angles. As a woman myself, this is super important!
I like that sizes go up to 2XL for women’s sportswear and all orders are shipped with 100% recycled packaging. A little goes a long way!

Apparel products on Apliiq can be customized in a few ways such as printing and embroidery. This is applied to their range of sportswear like leggings, tank tops, fitness shorts and joggers.
Embroidery is generally more expensive than digital print and for Apliiq’s leggings, the price difference is $2.01 per unit. You will also have to factor in a one-time $11.00 digitization fee for a new embroidery design.
While price may be an important element, you should also consider the added value of offering embroidery instead of normal printing. Depending on the design, embroidered products usually look a lot more premium and higher quality.

Beginners in print on demand may worry that they’re missing out on selling athletic wear if they’re just selling on Redbubble. Truth is, you don’t have to only sell on a single platform. You can sell the same designs on other marketplaces that works just like Redbubble, there’s no restrictions!
Even if you’re only selling on Redbubble at the moment, leggings and tank tops are two sportswear products that you can sell your designs on. Leggings may be a little confusing for a new beginner as the printing area isn’t single sided but tank tops are perfectly doable.
Beware on the sizes for Redbubble’s leggings as they are slightly small than average. You can always order a set to try out yourself at discounted prices.

16. Subliminator
Love everything all-over-print? You should consider Subliminator instead of just focusing on Printful. Products are cheaper than Printful’s as items are printed and shipped directly from China. Prices on the site includes standard shipping to USA, UK, Germany, Europe, Australia and Canada – just add $2 for the rest of the world.
Subliminator has a small range of sportswear, which includes hoodies, leggings, swimwear, joggers and jersey. Their athletic hoodies are made of premium polyester and spandex blend to make it breathable, durable and stretchy at the same time.
You also get to choose between a flat or round and black or white draw strings to match your overall design. If the product is predominantly in red, the color of the threads will be red too. This makes your small biz look a lot more professional than most apparel companies!
Even if you’re not looking to design sportswear perse, you can make money designing print on demand products with sports as the theme or niche.

At a glimpse, Two Fifteen looks quite similar to Inkthreadable and some of their products are pretty much the same. While that might be true, the site goes further by offering vegan-friendly sportswear including vests (tank tops)!
Compared to Inkthreadable, you can design vests sourced from Just Cool, instead of just TriDri® – this leaves you plenty of room to test out what product sells best. While it is great to specialize in selling athletic wear on its own, we must also consider the fraction of people who do not perform sports activity in a professional outfit. They would rather use whatever that comes easy for them.
Selling designs on various products in the beginning allows you to reach out to a wider customer base, increase your earnings potential and grow your business for the long-term.

- Consider bringing in traffic to your store with ads (if you’re not selling on a marketplace)
