11 Print On Demand Robes & Kimono

Spread the love

Are you looking to sell print on demand robes and kimono robes? Unsure which fulfillment is best? Here are 11 companies to use!

Robes are great products to sell all year round. It doesn’t matter if it’s for the summer or the winter, there’s always a good use for it. The only thing you need to consider when selling robes is that it can be a little difficult to design, especially if it’s all over print.

In this article, I’ll be sharing 11 fulfillment sites you can use to design custom printed robes and the types of robes they offer. To make things easier, I’ve also included their list of integrations and other apparel products you can sell.

1. Printify

I’m one to usually recommend Printify, this is the case for almost all product guides I’ve written on. It’s quite simple – they have over 800 products you can sell in your store, offers multiple ecommerce integrations and prices are affordable than most.

You can check out my Printify pricing analysis against Printful here.

However, for robes, there’s only a single type you can sell with Printify – refer image below. So you’ll definitely need to sell other products in your store to achieve higher sales – I’ve made a list of things you can sell alongside robes at the end of this article.

Their kimono robes are all over printed, which means your design would cover the entire outer surface area of the robe. I’ve made a sample for you to understand better how it should look.

Here’s a sample of a Printify robe I created using a design downloaded from Creative Fabrica. It’s a seamless design so all I did was upload the file, scaled it to a suitable size and made it repeat as a pattern using Printify’s pattern tool.

2. Art Of Where

If you’re looking for a print on demand robe company that’s based in Canada, Art Of Where should be your go-to. They have a wider selection for robes (list below) compared to others in this list and offers more choices based on type of fabric used.

You can choose between kimono robes or the usual robes, with a belt or without. There’s also a few color options for the robe’s band and belt – go for black, grey or white to match your main robe design.

Not all fulfillment offers this but you can add optional branding labels, artist cards, and stickers to your orders. This makes it your brand more unique and memorable to customers!

3. Contrado

Want to design a premium robe for a special event? I highly recommend checking out Contrado.

Similar to Art Of Where, Contrado’s robes can be made using three different fabrics (list below). Their 100% satin fabric is best for a luxurious feel but I would only suggest getting satin if you’re wearing the robe in cool places.

There are multiple sizing options (S-XXL) which includes plus size so that’s one less thing to worry if you’re ordering for a large group.

If you need the robe as soon as possible, Contrado offers express shipping for US addresses as fast as 1-2 days (post manufacturing) and typically ships packages in 1-2 days after receiving your order.

4. Bags Of Love

Custom robes on Bags Of Love is quite similar to the ones you see on Contrado. BOL is actually another brand under Contrado that caters to a UK-based audience as all orders are shipped from their HQ in London.

Just like Contrado, BOL’s prices are on the higher end but it is quite reasonable if you consider their superb printing quality and quick shipping times.

Aside from the usual kimono robes, you can also find personalized wedding robes on BOL that uses similar fabric to Contrado’s robes. Designs can be printed on both sides of the robe with the option for custom text, photo or initials.

A unique feature you can find on BOL compared to Contrado is their collage making tool where almost all products can be printed with a custom photo collage.

5. Zazzle

Zazzle is probably the only POD marketplace to sell print on demand robes. Although you can’t print designs all over the product, Zazzle’s robes are sold with embroidery which you can customize to your liking.

Aside from choosing thread colors, you can add your own custom text (three initials) and choose a style for the monogram. At the moment of writing, there isn’t any options for the base color of the robe and most come in white (other than the pink in image below).

Unlike other products, Zazzle does not print the robes in house and the product is labelled as “Artisan Made” where an independent manufacturer makes the order instead.

6. HugePOD

If you’re planning to purchase in large quantities at wholesale prices, you should head to HugePOD. They’re a fulfillment that ships most orders from China so you can save with cheaper prices.

By ordering more than 100 units on HugePOD, you can save about 20%!

Most products on HugePOD will have options for 19 base colors, just like what you see in the image below. This makes designing a lot easier and perhaps you’ll just need your design to be in two different colors. A darker design e.g. black is best for lighter base colors while a white design is best for darker base colors.

You’ll only need to consider the longer shipping times to the USA or Europe and shipping charges.

7. InterestPrint

Another fulfillment you can use that ships products from China but one that’s not necessarily cheap is InterestPrint. They have more options for robes compared to HugePOD, including robes for men.

It can be difficult to decide if you should be selling longer or shorter robes. But generally shorter ones sell better as it should look good on both a short or a tall person. As a seller, you can still go ahead and place your designs on both types of robes as there’s no cost incurred until you make a sale!

There are recommended selling prices for each product on InterestPrint but it’s always best to do your own research on the pricing strategy you should go for.

8. JetPrint

There’s only a single type of robe you can sell with JetPrint but it’s good that they offer different ones for men and women. Unless specified as unisex, men robes should be bigger especially for the parts of shoulders and arms.

JetPrint’s prices are much cheaper than HugePOD or InterestPrint but you’ll need to factor in the higher shipping cost. It’s also important to note that their robes are made of polyester material and meant for bath, instead of casual everyday wear.

I would recommend going with JetPrint if you’re looking for cheaper prices and perhaps plan to sell footwear alongside robes. They have a great selection of custom printed shoes (18 kinds of slides)!

9. Inkedjoy

The selection of robes on Inkedjoy is quite the same to the ones you see on InterestPrint but prices are much lower. Similar to JetPrint, shipping cost is displayed separately from product prices so you’ll have to do your own calculations to see if it’s a good fit for your business.

There are no long robes on Inkedjoy but they offer all over printing for all types of robes that even stretches to the robe’s band and belt. You can also design matching blanket robes for both adults and kids.

These days, longer shipping times can be quite acceptable for some customers but you’ll need to be able to handle their expectations – even before they place their orders.

10. Yoycol

If you’re interested in designing long robes and even kaftan ones, you should sign up with Yoycol. Just like Inkedjoy, all of their robes are all over printed and priced well below $17.

You can also enjoy bulk discounts of 5% and 10% with Yoycol if you purchase more than 10 units and 50 units, respectively. The discounts is not as much as the ones on HugePOD and not all robes on Yoycol have bulk discounts – so be sure to check first.

I like that they have at least two robe options for men but sizes may be limited.

There are no options for men robes on the site but you can explore selling other products like leggings, swimwear and sleepwear alongside your robes. Each product page on the site comes with a design template you can download and refer to when making your designs.

It’s also cool that you can choose between two different types of fabric when selling the robes.

How To Sell Robes With Print On Demand

  1. Choose a niche for your designs
    • Niching down is great to attract the right audience with your print on demand robes
    • Some examples would be robes designed with floral patterns, abstract or even cute clipart
    • Focus on your chosen niche for the next 100 designs!
  2. Do research on best selling and trendy designs
  3. Make your own designs or outsource
    • Some important things to know are design file sizes and printing layout (if any)
  4. Sign up for an account with any of the sites I’ve listed above
    • You’ll have to create an account with one of the sites I’ve mentioned above to start selling
    • Choose one supplier that resonates to you the most with the right products you’ve envisioned for your robe business
  5. Upload designs to products
    • Uploading designs to supplier’s products is super easy and you should be able to do this once an account is created
    • Position the design correctly when uploading as the actual product will look the same as what you see online
  6. Set a suitable profit margin for each product
    • On most sites, you should be able to set a selling price once you’ve done uploading the design
    • A suitable margin should be 40%-50% depending on the platform you’re selling on and any fees you’ll incur on each sale
    • This excludes shipping charges to customers!
  7. Sync them to your ecommerce store
    • You would need to integrate your ecommerce store e.g. Etsy or Shopify before you’re able to sell so do that first
    • Sync the ready product to your store to start selling them publicly
    • Sites like Zazzle have their own marketplace for you to sell your products – so you don’t need a separate store to use them
  8. Start selling and repeat!
    • Repeat the process and you’ll get some sales with time!
    • Increase your chances of success by uploading more quality designs and using professional mockup tools like Placeit
    • Consider bringing in traffic to your store with ads (if you’re not selling on a marketplace)

Bottom Line

Printed robes can look exclusive and unique depending on the type of design you print on it and the type of fabric it’s made of. So be sure to do your own research and discover your preference!

If you’re planning to dropship robes in the USA, I suggest going with white label print on demand companies like Printify and Art Of Where. If you’re feeling adventurous, you should definitely check out Asian-based fulfillments to save more on product costs!

Hey there! Abby here - the founder of Passive Marketeer and also the main writer on the site. My love for ecommerce and online marketing was something I found through my 9-5 sales job. It was mind boggling at first that we're able to make an income online passively in today's world! If you're still feeling that way, know that you're not alone.

That's why, I decided to help others by sharing findings through my own research on today's ecommerce world. When I'm not writing, I'm either running my online biz, traveling, cooking or gardening.
